Lisbon

The capital of the country situated on the North bank of the River Tagus as it flows under the imposing Vasco Da Gama suspension bridge (the longest in Europe) before it reaches the ocean. Within walking distance of the cruise terminal is the area known as is Belem - with the largest number of heritage sites connected with Portuguese maritime history such as the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos from 1501, the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Archaeology.

The Torre de Belem is another marvellous monument and classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Parque das Nações is the site of the 1998 World Fair; and is a lively area where the locals have fun, enjoy shows, go for a walk, play sport and shop. Here you will also find the Oceanário de Lisboa which is one of the largest public aquaria in Europe to promote knowledge of the oceans.

Perhaps visit the Pavilion of Knowledge (Ciência Viva) which is an interactive science and technology museum. Mainly games-based, its exhibitions and activities allow children to explore a variety of themes in an interactive and fun way.

This 91,740 tonne ship was launched in 2001 and revitalised in 2018 under the extensive Norwegian Edge ship upgrade programme. Oporto, often referred to as Porto, is one of Portugal’s most atmospheric coastal cities, known for its riverside views, historic architecture and world‑famous port wine. Cruise ships typically dock at Leixões Cruise Terminal, located around 8 km from Porto city centre, with a travel time of approximately 20–30 minutes by taxi or shuttle. Once in Porto, visitors can explore the colourful waterfront of Ribeira, stroll across the impressive Dom Luís I Bridge, and enjoy tastings in the traditional port wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia.

The city also features standout attractions such as the Clérigos Tower, Livraria Lello, and the grand São Bento railway station with its iconic azulejo tiles. With charming streets, scenic river views and rich culture, Porto offers a rewarding day of sightseeing and flavourful experiences.

La Coruna

La Coruna is the capital of Galicia with lots of scenic and historic interest points. Visit the Tower or Hercules - the world's oldest functioning lighthouse - built by the Romans. Admire the coastal views from Monte San Pedro and have fun in the maze or visit Cabo Finistere (the end of the earth) and the western most point in Europe. Plaza de Maria Pita marks the historic centre of La Coruna featuring interesting architecture just a short walk from the cruise terminal.

Gijon

Nestled along Spain's stunning Asturian coastline, Gijón is a vibrant port city renowned for its golden beaches, rich maritime heritage and welcoming atmosphere. Stroll through the historic Cimavilla district, where charming streets and traditional architecture reveal centuries of history. Discover cultural attractions, lively waterfront promenades and authentic Spanish cuisine, from fresh seafood to the region's famous cider. La Rochelle is a coastal city in southwestern France and capital of the Charente-Maritime department. It's been a centre for fishing and trade since the 12th century, a maritime tradition that's reflected in its Vieux Port (old harbour) and huge, modern Les Minimes marina. The old town has half-timbered medieval houses and Renaissance architecture, including passageways covered by 17th-century arches.

Amsterdam

This beautiful and friendly city is like the Venice of the North where Canals weave through historic streets, tulips bloom, cultural treasures abound.
